Cookie Policy

Clear, straightforward details regarding cookies, web tracking, and browser local storage on the Blind Tech Community platform.

1. Zero Third-Party Tracking Cookies

Quick Summary: We do not deploy advertiser scripts, tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking cookies. Your online activity remains private.

Our platform stands for user privacy and accessibility:

  • No Advertiser Scripts: We do not load marketing trackers, target marketing pixels, or analytical scripts that track your browsing habits across different websites.
  • No Cookie Banners needed: Because we do not run non-essential or third-party advertising cookies, we are not required to clutter your screen-reader voice flow with complex cookie consent pop-ups.

2. Browser Local Storage (Essential Only)

Quick Summary: We use native browser storage locally on your machine for two basic features: keeping you signed in via Google, and saving your dark/light mode preference.

To provide a responsive interface, our site writes configuration keys to your web browser's **Local Storage**:

  • Theme Settings (`theme` key): Remembers whether you have set the website color layout to **Dark Mode** or **Light Mode** so the correct contrast theme loads immediately.
  • Login Credentials (`google_token` or similar): Holds the secure token returned by Google authentication, maintaining your sign-in state across page loads so you don't have to re-login on every click.

Local storage details remain securely on your device. They are not sent to external servers or accessible by other domains.

3. Managing Local Storage Settings

You can view or clear your local storage preferences at any time:

To delete local settings, simply use your browser's history settings (specifically **"Clear Site Data"** or **"Delete Cookies and Site Data"**). Note that doing this will log you out of the platform and revert your theme contrast back to our system defaults.
